Chapter One — What we do

§ 01 / 06

"In healthcare, cleaning isn't about appearance. It's about patient safety — and the paperwork to prove it."

Healthcare environments need more than a standard commercial clean. Janitorial Smart Ops runs dedicated medical-facility routes for Calgary clinics, dental offices, and healthcare centres — built around infection control, cross-contamination prevention, and the compliance paperwork your regulator expects.

Hospital-grade EPA-registered disinfectants. Trained, WHMIS-certified crews. Photo-verified task completion by room. Documented routes that mean when the inspector asks when exam room three was last terminal-cleaned, you have the log — not a guess.

We serve family practices, specialist clinics, dental offices, physiotherapy, chiropractic, optometry, mental-health practices, and walk-in clinics. We do not currently clean hospitals or surgical centres — that tier requires specialized contracting.

Chapter Two — What's included

§ 02 / 06

Six areas.
Protocol-driven.

Every medical route covers these six zones with a documented protocol. Product choice, contact time, and PPE requirements are defined per zone — not improvised on-site.

01

Exam & treatment rooms

Surface disinfection with hospital-grade product, proper contact time, exam-bed paper rotation, equipment wipe-down, and floor disinfection.

02

High-touch disinfection

Door handles, light switches, elevator buttons, card readers, pens at reception, intake clipboards. Logged per visit.

03

Waiting & reception

Chairs, arm rests, shared tables, check-in counters, magazine racks. The surfaces sick patients touch before they see the doctor.

04

Restrooms

Full disinfection, supply restock, odour elimination — the patient-facing room that signals facility standards.

05

Floors & carpets

Hospital-grade floor disinfectant in clinical zones; standard commercial protocol in admin areas. No cross-contamination between the two.

06

Admin & staff areas

Breakrooms, staff restrooms, admin offices, records rooms — cleaned without mixing supplies with the clinical side.

The difference

What the inspector actually asks for.

Without us

  • Paper log half-filled-in, last-signed two weeks ago
  • Unclear chemistry — was it hospital-grade or just sanitizer?
  • No photo record of terminal cleans on exam rooms
  • Cross-contamination risk — same mop used clinical and admin
  • No training record for the current crew

With Janitorial Smart Ops

  • Digital log per visit, per room, per product — exportable on demand
  • Documented chemistry with EPA registration numbers filed
  • Photo verification of terminal cleans on every exam room
  • Separated supply kits — clinical side and admin side never mix
  • Training roster with annual re-certification, exportable for College audits

Chapter Three — Facility types

§ 03 / 06

Six types.
Protocol per type.

Dental offices generate different contamination than family practice. Physiotherapy tables need different disinfection than mental-health rooms. Each facility type gets a protocol matched to its actual risk profile.

01

Family practice

Walk-in flow, multiple exam rooms, higher-volume reception.

02

Dental offices

Aerosol-generating procedures, surface splatter, operatory protocols.

03

Specialist clinics

Dermatology, optometry, audiology — equipment-sensitive protocols.

04

Physio & chiropractic

Treatment tables, gym equipment, high-contact surfaces.

05

Mental-health practices

Low-stimulation cleaning, quiet hours, privacy-aware crew conduct.

06

Walk-in clinics

High-throughput, frequent terminal cleans, after-hours deep disinfection.

Chapter Five — Questions clinic managers ask

§ 05 / 06

The parts regulators care about.

Chemistry, training, biohazard scope, documentation — the answers before you call.

Do you use hospital-grade disinfectants?

Yes. EPA-registered hospital-grade disinfectants applied at proper contact time in exam rooms, treatment rooms, and high-touch zones. Products rotated on an evidence-based schedule and logged per visit.

Are your cleaners trained for healthcare environments?

Every medical cleaner completes training in infection-control protocols, cross-contamination prevention, PPE, and WHMIS before assignment. Training roster documented and re-certified annually.

How do you handle biohazard or sharps?

We do not handle biohazard waste, sharps, or regulated medical waste — those require a licensed medical-waste contractor. We clean and disinfect around existing sharps and biohazard containers. Scope is defined in writing before service begins.

What types of medical facilities do you clean?

Family practices, specialist clinics, dental offices, physiotherapy, chiropractic, optometry, mental-health practices, walk-in clinics, small medical-office buildings. Not hospitals or surgical centres.

Can you clean after hours to avoid patient disruption?

Yes. Most medical routes run after the last patient leaves or pre-clinic in early mornings. We lock up, alarm-arm, and file a completion photo in the portal.

Do you provide documentation for College inspections?

Yes. Every visit logs room-level task completion, product used, contact time, and crew member. Exportable as PDF or CSV on demand for College or Alberta Health inspections.
